The Story of Skewed
It was a beautiful day at a music festival in Tennessee. After dancing all afternoon we had worked up quite an appetite and headed for the outdoor food court. As we waited in line eyeing all the scrumptious vittles, we chatted about our experiences working in the culinary business and our mutual love for good food and drink, community and celebration. Almost simultaneously, we said to each other, "THIS is what we should be doing for work!" After the laughter died down we returned to the music, but a seed of our dream was planted that would soon begin to grow into Skewed - a catering company with "flare."

About Rahsaan

Skewed's founder, Rahsaan Morin, has 15 years experience in the culinary arts. He got his start in high-end catering in his home state of Maine. Later, at the Regency Health Spa in Hallandale, Florida, Rahsaan worked as a vegan chef. He wrote recipes for "Parsley and Paisley", a cookbook by Mamie Rader (Veggie Plus Publications, 1996) as well as taught nutrition and cooking classes to the spa guests.

When he moved to the Bay Area in 1995, he expanded his culinary skill set in the food service business. At Awaken Foods, he was responsible for product research, design and development, as well as sales and marketing. When the company was acquired by Sweet Earth, a Monterey-based whole foods company, he managed the transition of ownership and trained the new staff on Awaken Foods best practices. Besides product development and distribution at Sweet Earth, Rahsaan was also responsible for expanding the product line into new markets.

As an expert adventure traveler, Rahsaan began working for the Green Tortoise travel company in 2000 as an adventure trip leader, mechanic and driver. In addition to leading large groups of international guests to some of the country's most beautiful national parks, he was responsible for menu and meal planning and preparation. Rahsaan was famous for amazing his guests with culinary masterpieces which he taught them to prepare in gorgeous wilderness sites such as Valley of the Gods in Arizona and Devils Tower in Wyoming. Rahsaan is also an international traveler and photographer, capturing the sights of foreign lands and rock bands on tour.

Skewed is a convergence of Rahsaan's love for fine food, celebration and adventure. His mission is to delight people with healthy and creative cuisine that tastes great.

• Food vending at national music festivals and fairs


Event Catering
We provide full service catering for private events that include weddings, corporate events, intimate private parties and tailgate parties. Depending on your needs, you can customize how you would like the food to be prepared and delivered.

Pre-Made and Delivered
At your request, the Skewed chefs will prepare the food in our kitchens prior to your event and deliver it at a designated time. The talented and friendly Skewed crew will set up our tables and serving dishes and serve your guests buffet style.

Cooked On-Site
Alternatively, you can request for the food to be prepared on-site at your event. Our grills are easy to transport and fire up, so your guests will enjoy watching their food prepared to order and served up sizzling and delicious.

Food Vending at Fairs & Festivals
As the inspiration for the company, this is our specialty. We love music and art festivals almost as much as we love feeding people delicious treats. Skewed operates food vending booths at fairs and festivals nationwide.

Skewed Cuisine

We offer a delicious array of skewers and accompaniments customized to fit your taste, event size and budget.

Our menu is centered around sizzling chicken, shrimp and tofu vegetarian skewers and influenced by the tastes of Thai, Indian, Italian and Chinese cuisine. We offer a wide variety of side dishes to round out your meal such as rice and cous cous, buttery grilled corn on the cob, fresh salads and homemade soups to name just a few.

In addition to skewers, we also provide a broad selection of more traditional party food including hamburgers, steaks and ice cream.

Last but not least, we are also happy to create customized menus that reflect your special requests and tastes.
